Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)
Location: Clary sage grows in dry soil around the Mediterranean region. Widely cultivated in Russia.
Extraction: Steam distilled from the leaves.
Colour and Odour: The essential oil is pale yellow in colour with a sweet, slightly floral, nutty and musty scent.
Description: A hardy herb growing to 60cm tall with green, broad, wrinkled leaves and long flowered stalks bearing small blue flowers enclosed by pointed bracts which are green and streaked with purple.
Background: Clary sage was highly esteemed in Europe during the Middle Ages. It was introduced into Britain in 1562. In Germany it is used for making muscatel wine and also as a substitute for hops in making beer.
Properties: Tonic, sedative.
Uses
Circulatory System-Helpful for reducing high blood pressure.
Respiratory System-Helps relax spasms in asthma due to anxiety or other emotional tension.
Muscular System-Powerful relaxant, useful for muscular tension especially when due to mental or emotional stress.

GENERAL RULES FOR MIXING YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS.
A 10ml bottle of essential oil will give you approx. 200 drops, when blending essential oils the dilution should be 2%.

5 drops of essential oil
25 drops of essential oil
